Core i7 2670QM is a quad core processor that is based on sandy bridge architecture. It runs at 2.2GHz when executing normal mode and automatically overclocks itself to 3.1GHz under turbo mode. The 2670qm can handle up to 8 threads at a time. This processor is being used in a lot of new Sony Vaio notebooks. For instance, Sony recently announced Vaio F23 and one of its variants will be offered with 2670qm.
Like other processors in the range, the 2670qm also has a TDP of 45 watts. Compared to its kin, Core i7 2760qm, it scored ~5000 points less in the PCmark vantage benchmark test. Nevertheless, its score of 15723 still makes a very fast CPU.
As you can see, the Core i7 2670qm completely nails the i7 2640m that we reviewed a couple of weeks back. By the way, we mentioned the AMD E300 and E2 3000m just for making the 2670qm look over powerful.
